The Department of Industrial College Technologies at the University of Al-Mustaqbal participated in the university’s celebrations of the Iraqi National Day, which were held on Sunday in an atmosphere filled with pride and patriotism, attended by a number of deans, professors, staff members, and students.
The department was represented by Prof. Dr. Younis Abdul Redha Al-Khafaji, Head of the Department, and Asst. Lecturer Zeinab Ali Mohsen, the Department Rapporteur, along with a group of staff and students who expressed their deep love and pride for their homeland.
The celebration began with the recitation of Surat Al-Fatiha in honor of Iraq’s martyrs, followed by the playing of the national anthem. Afterwards, Prof. Dr. Muzafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, representing the President of the University, delivered a speech in which he emphasized that October 3rd is a glorious national day that embodies Iraq’s journey toward independence and sovereignty.
Dr. Al-Zuhairi highlighted that October 3rd, 1932, marks a historic day when Iraq declared its independence and joined the League of Nations, becoming the first Arab country to gain full international recognition of its sovereignty. He added that this day is not merely a commemoration of the past, but a renewal of loyalty to the homeland, a reminder of the values of sacrifice and construction, and an affirmation of everyone’s responsibility to continue the path of progress and development.
The celebration also included the screening of a documentary film that showcased Iraq’s history and its journey of advancement. The event was filled with national pride as Iraqi flags were raised and patriotic songs were sung, reflecting the unity and love of the participants for their country.
The ceremony concluded with a reaffirmation of the University of Al-Mustaqbal’s mission to build a conscious Iraqi generation proud of its national identity, while instilling the values of citizenship and belonging among its students — renewing its pledge of loyalty to the homeland through knowledge and dedication.
