In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, Al-Mustaqbal University – College of Health and Medical Technologies, Department of Industrial Technology – organized a field visit to Al-Imam Al-Sadiq Hospital, specifically to the Dialysis Unit and the Artificial Kidney Department. The visit took place on January 4, 2025, under the supervision and coordination of Dr. Talib Jijan Tahir.
The visit included a tour of the dialysis unit, where students engaged with the nursing and medical staff. The university team highlighted the recent establishment of the Department of Industrial Kidney Technology at the College of Health and Medical Technologies, which aims to supply the healthcare sector with well-trained and specialized professionals in this critical field. The hospital staff were invited to visit the new department to witness this significant academic advancement.
During the visit, the hospital team delivered an informative lecture to the students on the stages of the dialysis process, including the operation of specialized dialysis machines. Students also reviewed patient test results particularly urea and creatinine levels which are key indicators for determining dialysis frequency, typically two or more times per week for each patient.
The hospital staff expressed their admiration for the students and extended their best wishes for their future success, hoping to see them one day as part of the dialysis unit’s professional team.
