In support of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls, the Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics at the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies organized an awareness seminar entitled:
"The Importance of Providing a Supportive Work Environment for Women", in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit of the college.

The seminar was presented by Asst. Lecturer Ghadir Haider Abbas and Engineer Aya Talib Hassan, who emphasized the importance of creating a fair, safe, and motivating work environment that enables women to perform their roles efficiently and guarantees them equal opportunities for professional growth and leadership—aligning with the core principles of sustainable development.

The session addressed the major challenges women may face in the workplace, particularly in technical and engineering fields, and offered practical recommendations to overcome these challenges through awareness, institutional policies, and open dialogue.

The seminar witnessed active participation from both faculty members and students and reaffirmed the college’s commitment to fostering a culture of equality and empowerment within the academic and professional environment.
