In light of the recent circulation of an article about the so-called (RI2) ranking, the AL-Mustaqbal University Council would like to clarify the following to the academic public:
First: The University's Rejection of this Ranking and its Position on It
The University Council expresses its deep astonishment at the circulation of an internationally unrecognized ranking, one that lacks solid scientific foundations and appears to unjustifiably seek to undermine the reputation of Iraqi higher education institutions. The Council affirms that such rankings lack credibility in global academic circles and do not impact the upward trajectory of university education in Iraq.
Second: AL-Mustaqbal University's International Achievements
Despite these confusing attempts, Future University continues to consolidate its position regionally and internationally through the following:
1. Internationalization and Strategic Partnerships
• Hosting the first international master's program in Iraq in partnership with the globally ranked Malaysian public university, USM.
• Ongoing cooperation with international organizations such as UNESCO, the International Association of Universities/Global Voice for Higher Education (IUA), the Union of Mediterranean Universities (UNIMED), and the Eurasian Association of Universities (EURAS).
• Active membership in the Iraqi-British Academic Bridge.
• Signing more than 120 academic cooperation agreements with prestigious universities in the United States, Turkey, Egypt, and other countries.
2. Prestigious International Rankings
• The university ranked first globally in the Clean Energy pillar (SDG 7) according to the Times Higher Education 2025 Sustainable Development Index.
• It is listed among the 200-300 global universities in the same index.
• Its presence in prestigious international rankings, such as:
• US News
• UI GreenMetric
• Webometrics
• Arab Ranking of Universities
• Iraqi National Ranking
Third: Quality of Scientific Research and Credibility of Performance
• High-level Scientific Publications:
• 40% of the university's research output is published in Q1 journals.
• 70% of it is published in Q1 and Q2 journals combined.
• Tangible Scientific Impact:
• The university achieved an H-index of 75.
• The number of research citations reached more than 50,000 international citations.
• Credibility of International Assessments:
• All university data recognized in international rankings is based on peer-reviewed databases such as Scopus and Clarivate Analytics, without interference or manipulation on the part of the university.
Finally, AL-Mustaqbal University reiterates its commitment to its academic mission and its pioneering role in supporting the progress of higher education in Iraq, and affirms its confidence in its academic staff, students, and local and international partners. It also categorically rejects malicious attempts to cast doubt based on inaccurate information, and calls for a distinction between sound institutional work and distorted practices that serve neither education nor the nation.
And God is the Grantor of success.
