In alignment with the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (Quality Education), which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, and under the generous patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Office of Scientific and Academic Supervision, in coordination with the National Center for Copyright and Related Rights, organized a scientific seminar on the morning of Tuesday, July 8, 2025, titled:
"Highlighting the Importance of Registering Scientific Research as Original Works in Accordance with the Amended Copyright Law No. 3 of 1971."
This seminar was held in support of efforts to achieve quality education, enhance scientific research, and encourage intellectual creativity. Al-Mustaqbal University seeks to protect researchers' rights by enabling them to register their scientific work within a legal framework that ensures their recognition and contributes to building a fair and motivating educational environment.
The seminar was attended by representatives from relevant institutions, including:
Mr. Yasser Ali Hussein and Mr. Musab Kamil Maki from the Ministry of Culture.
Prof. Dr. Waleed Al-Jarrah, Director of Scientific Affairs at the Iraqi Association of Inventors and Innovators.
A number of the university’s professors and heads of scientific departments, including the Head of the Department of Optical Techniques and faculty members from the same department.
Mr. Musab Kamil delivered a valuable scientific lecture on copyright and related rights, clarifying the legal framework for protecting intellectual and scientific outputs and emphasizing the importance of documenting research through official mechanisms that preserve the rights of researchers. The lecture was well-received and sparked fruitful discussions on ways to support young researchers and encourage responsible scientific publishing.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision honored the participants with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their contributions to the success of this purposeful scientific event. A group photo was also taken to commemorate this special gathering.
