The University Council of Al-Mustaqbal University held its eleventh session for the academic year 2024–2025, chaired by Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of the University, and attended by the vice presidents, deans, and council members, with the participation of the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision.
The session began with a speech by the University President, in which he praised the efforts of the council members and the teaching and administrative staff, which have led to remarkable achievements on various levels. These include significant progress in global and local university rankings, activation of scientific research, organization of academic conferences, expansion of international partnerships, excellence in sustainability, and the launch of a comprehensive construction renaissance that contributed to developing infrastructure in line with the standards of reputable international universities.
He also commended the outstanding performance of several academic departments in the ministerial assessment exams, emphasizing the importance of finalizing exam grade records and graduation documents on time, as well as reviewing preparations for the upcoming academic year 2025–2026. He stressed the need to form specialized committees in the colleges to follow up on safety and security measures.
In his directives, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi called on council members to submit their academic plans for the upcoming year, including research activities, innovative initiatives, scientific workshops and forums, in addition to preparations for scientific conferences approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
For his part, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Prof. Dr. Muthaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, presented a detailed report on the status of scientific research at the university. He reviewed the publication metrics in Scopus and Clarivate databases, the volume of publications in Q1 and Q2 journals, as well as plans related to sustainability, enhancing academic partnerships with reputable universities, graduate qualification programs for the labor market, and the university’s status in local and international rankings. The University President issued his directives accordingly.
The President also listened to comments from the deans and vice presidents and directed that appropriate measures be taken to address them. The session concluded with a review of the agenda items and the adoption of the necessary recommendations.
