Under the patronage and presence of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the university held this morning a grand celebration on the occasion of the Iraqi National Day, under the theme “Enhancing National Identity and Its Role in Sustainable Development.” The event was filled with pride and patriotism and attended by university vice presidents, deans, faculty members, and a large number of students.

The celebration began with a student parade that marched across the university square, where participants carried Iraqi flags and banners representing the goals of sustainable development — a scene that embodied the spirit of national unity and the university’s social mission to build a generation rooted in loyalty, service, and belonging.

Following that, Prof. Dr. Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Academic and Scientific Supervision, delivered a speech on behalf of the university presidency. He emphasized that celebrating the National Day is a renewal of loyalty and devotion to the homeland and a remembrance of Iraq’s glorious history, marking its independence in 1932 as the first Arab country to gain full recognition of its sovereignty.
Dr. Al-Zuhairi stated that this day reaffirms the belief that national identity is the cornerstone for building the future of modern Iraq and that sustainable development can only be achieved through the creativity and dedication of its people. He also encouraged students to actively participate in all university initiatives — scientific, cultural, and social — especially in the Future Ambassadors for Sustainability Camp, scheduled to be held on October 17.

He further noted that the remarkable academic and scientific achievements of Al-Mustaqbal University are the result of the collective efforts of its professors, students, and staff, emphasizing that true patriotism is reflected in hard work, academic excellence, and community service — principles that the university continues to uphold in its vision and mission.

After the speech, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in recognition of his outstanding efforts that led the university to achieve advanced positions in global rankings.
The President also honored several university leaders and faculty members for their distinguished roles in achieving outstanding results in the Times Impact Rankings, as well as in the fields of energy, research, national rankings, quality assurance, accreditation, and student activities. In addition, outstanding participants in the Sustainability Award Competition were recognized.

The celebration also featured a special participation by students from Safy Al-Din Al-Hilli Intermediate School and the Kindergarten Department, symbolizing the university’s commitment to community engagement. As a community-centered institution that extends beyond its campus, Al-Mustaqbal University strives to instill values of belonging and promote sustainable development concepts across all educational stages.

The event concluded in an atmosphere filled with joy and pride, as Al-Mustaqbal University reaffirmed its commitment to the homeland and its ongoing mission to graduate conscious, creative generations who carry the message of knowledge and progress toward a brighter and more sustainable Iraq.
