His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research praised the remarkable achievement of Al-Mustaqbal University for ranking first globally in Sustainable Development Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) within the University Impact Rankings 2025 issued by the British organization Times Higher Education.

The Minister affirmed that this achievement represents a qualitative leap and reflects the high level of excellence reached by Iraqi universities, commending the continuous academic and scientific efforts made by Al-Mustaqbal University to strengthen its position in global rankings.

He further noted that this progress comes within the context of the growing international presence of Iraqi universities in higher education, highlighting the participation of 88 Iraqi universities in the Times Impact Rankings, in addition to 10 universities featured in the QS World University Rankings 2026. This, he added, is a testament to the success of national strategies aimed at improving the quality of higher education and scientific research, as well as enhancing the role of universities in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

His Excellency concluded by emphasizing that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research remains committed to supporting academic institutions, thereby strengthening Iraq’s position regionally and internationally in the fields of higher education, research, and innovation.

It is worth mentioning that Al-Mustaqbal University is considered the top university in Iraq according to the 2025 Sustainable Development Goals performance indicators.
