Students from the Sustainability Ambassadors Program in the Department of Medical Biotechnology – College of Science participated in a tree-planting campaign held at several schools, as part of an initiative aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and raising awareness about the importance of planting and protecting green spaces.

The campaign focused on two of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
🌿 Climate Action
🏙️ Sustainable Cities and Communities

During the activity, the students planted a variety of tree species suitable for Iraq’s climate, supporting environmental efforts to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and mitigate global warming.

The initiative also aimed to encourage school students to engage in planting activities and to highlight the vital role of trees in protecting the environment and improving quality of life.

This participation comes as part of the department’s ongoing community outreach and student activities, in alignment with the College of Science’s mission to promote sustainability, environmental responsibility, and active community engagement among its students.
