In a step that reflects its commitment to fostering national and international partnerships, Al-Mustaqbal University signed a scientific cooperation agreement with the Iraqi Ministry of Environment, during an official visit by His Excellency Dr. Halo Al-Askari, Minister of Environment, to the university. The signing ceremony was attended by the university president, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, along with several academic and governmental figures.
The agreement aims to support joint environmental research, exchange scientific consultations, and implement training programs and field surveys that contribute to promoting environmental awareness and achieving sustainable development—especially in light of the escalating environmental and climate challenges facing Iraq and the world.
Prof. Dr. Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuheiri, Director of Scientific Supervision at the university, emphasized that this partnership aligns with the university’s vision of transforming into a sustainable institution that actively serves the community and the environment. He also highlighted the importance of developing research and enhancing collaboration between universities and governmental bodies.
His Excellency the Minister of Environment praised the university’s pioneering initiatives and advanced academic infrastructure, stating:
"The university truly represents an academic model that harnesses science in the service of humanity and nature."
It is worth noting that Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved an unprecedented milestone by ranking first globally in the Clean Energy category (SDG 7) according to the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025, reflecting the university’s environmental impact and leadership in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
