In a strategic move that embodies constructive cooperation between academic and governmental institutions, AL_Mustaqbal University signed a memorandum of joint scientific cooperation with the Ministry of Environment. The agreement was sponsored and attended by His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Dr. Helo Al-Askari, during his official visit to the university.

This initiative falls within the framework of AL_Mustaqbal University's ambitious vision, under the direct guidance of Professor Hassan Shaker Magdy, President of the University, to consolidate the university's role in achieving sustainable development goals, building on its qualitative achievements and research practices that address contemporary environmental challenges.

*Aspects of Cooperation:

The memorandum of cooperation includes several areas of mutual interest, most notably:
• Supporting joint environmental research and studies.
• Providing consultations and scientific reports related to environmental impact.
• Organizing conferences, workshops, and training programs for capacity building.
• Raising community awareness of sustainable environmental practices.
• Conducting environmental surveys and promoting environmental activities through the media channels of both parties.

The signing ceremony was opened with a speech delivered by Professor Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision at the University. He welcomed the Minister and his accompanying delegation, emphasizing that this agreement represents a concrete step toward effective cooperation in addressing environmental challenges and reducing emissions and the carbon footprint, in line with global standards of environmental governance.

For his part, the Minister of Environment, Dr. Hilal Al-Askari, expressed his deep appreciation to the University's presidency and the advanced academic staff for their generous hospitality and warm welcome. He praised the pioneering environmental projects and practical scientific experiments he witnessed, emphasizing:

"What we have found at the University of the AL_Mustaqbal is a source of pride and honor; it truly embodies the concept of a sustainable university, which goes beyond mere theory but transforms ideas and visions into practical applications that serve the environment and society."

*Honoring and Documenting Achievements:
The signing ceremony was attended by a number of government figures, including the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment for Administrative Affairs, officials from the Environment Departments in the Middle Euphrates and Babil Governorates, Assistant Professor Dr. Abbas Al-Bawi, the University's Scientific Assistant, and a number of deans and faculty members.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, on behalf of the University President, presented the AL_Mustaqbal University shield to His Excellency the Minister of Environment. He also presented him with a copy of the international certificate issued by the British Times Foundation, documenting the university's first global ranking in the Clean Energy (SDG 7) pillar of the Times Higher Education Sustainable Development Index for 2025. This achievement is the first of its kind among Iraqi and Arab universities.
