The Medical Instrumentation Techniques Engineering Department holds a scientific symposium called "The Phenomenon of Drug Abuse" under the supervision of the lecturer (Alya Muhammad), which was delivered by Professor (Dr. Fadel Abbas Al-Jubouri) from the Babylon National Society for Human Rights, and in the presence of professors and students of the Medical Instrumentation Techniques Engineering Department. Where the symposium achieved the third goal of the sustainable development goals (good health and well-being) and dealt with the causes of abuse and the legal penalties established in the Iraqi constitution,
The symposium also included a dialogue session to answer many questions and discuss general trends to reduce this phenomenon.
