Sustainable Development Goals aim to achieve a better and more sustainable future for everybody. These goals indeed confront all the challenges we face everywhere in the world, including eradication of poverty, inequality, climate and deterioration of environment, all together with the settlement of peace and justice, taking into consideration that these goals are interrelated and all the world is concerned.
Under the guardianship of Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, Dean of Al-Mustaqbal University College, and directly supervised by Dr. Haneen Al-Sultani with her students of the Media Department, a cleaning campaign has been implemented on a neighborhood located near Road 80 West of Hilla City. The campaign included the removal of solid waste, providing a safe road and covering a street with sub-base.
This initiative comes as part of SDG 11, which aims to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
In a speech, Dr. Haneen stated that the campaign aims to treat the damages caused by the environmental pollution, reducing the negative impact of individuals’ actions, with the focus on the poor classes who live in vulnerable situations. Besides, Municipal and other Waste Managements shall take their active role in the process of protecting environment.
Finally, we should emphasize the heroic contribution of MUC students in this campaign.
