In support of the Third Sustainable Development Goal (Good Health and Well-being) and the Fourth Goal (Quality Education), and as part of the Department of Optometry’s activities at Al-Mustaqbal University, which is keen on enhancing students’ practical and professional skills, the department organized the Rapid Diagnosis Hackathon Competition on Wednesday, September 17th, 2025, in the department’s laboratories, with broad participation from students across all academic stages.
The competition focused on conducting a set of optometric examinations, including: Visual Acuity Test, Intraocular Pressure Test, and Color Blindness Test. The challenge required the participating teams to complete as many of these tests as possible with both accuracy and speed within a limited time.
The judging criteria were based on two key aspects:
Accuracy (70% and above)
Performance Speed

It was also announced that the top winners will receive special awards (shield + medal), along with certificates of appreciation and financial prizes. However, the winning teams have not yet been determined, and the results will be announced later once the evaluation process is complete.
This competition reflects the Department of Optometry’s commitment to fostering scientific competition, developing students’ skills in clinical eye examinations, keeping pace with modern advancements, and improving the quality of educational outcomes.
