A Workshop on Using Agricultural Solid Waste as Permeable Reactive Barrier in Treatment of Contaminated Groundwater

Under the guardianship of Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, Dean of Al-Mustaqbal College, the Chemical Engineering & Petroleum Industries Department has organized a seminar on

“Use of Agricultural Solid Waste as Permeable Reactive Barrier in Treatment of Contaminated Groundwater”

In the seminar, the academic, Ms. Maryam Jawad Abdul-Hassan Kadhim has talked about the importance of groundwater at the present time and its treatment by using the permeable reactive barrier, which is considered as a promising and innovative technology in the on-site treatment of groundwater. There is also the method of designing the permeable reactive barrier through the utilization of active carbon obtained from fruit seeds.

By using Komsol program, the results have been compared with the experimental ones so as to identify the degree of agreement between them.

Finally, it is remarkable to note that a group MUC academics have attended the workshop.
