The Sustainability Ambassadors of the Forensic Science Department – College of Science – Al-Mustaqbal University organized an educational campaign in celebration of World Tourism Day, under the supervision of Mrs. Wqar Jafat Jasim and with the participation of a group of students.
The campaign focused on the importance of sustainable tourism and its role in promoting environmental awareness and preserving cultural heritage. It included the distribution of informative brochures and open discussions with students to highlight the relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
SDGs highlighted by the campaign:
Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: Promote sustainable tourism as a driver of economic growth and local job creation.
Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities: Emphasize the proper management of tourist destinations to preserve cultural and natural heritage.
Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production: Encourage responsible tourism practices to reduce pollution and minimize waste.
Goal 13 – Climate Action: Highlight the role of eco-friendly tourism in reducing carbon emissions and mitigating climate change.
Goal 15 – Life on Land: Support the protection of biodiversity and natural reserves as part of sustainable eco-tourism.
The campaign concluded with a call to view tourism not only as recreation, but also as a powerful tool for achieving sustainable development and building more aware and responsible communities.
