In line with the directives of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, to enhance international partnerships through engagement with reputable global universities and relevant international organizations and associations in the higher education sector, the university participated in the 6th regular virtual meeting of the Board of Directors of the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS). The meeting was held via video conference and chaired by Professor Dr. Mustafa Aydin, President of Aydin University in Istanbul and Chairman of the Union’s Board of Directors, with the attendance of several university presidents and representatives from member institutions.
Al-Mustaqbal University was represented at the meeting by Professor Dr. Muzafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, on behalf of the University President Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, who is a Board Member of EURAS, in addition to Dr. Sameer Ibrahim Badrawi, Director of the International Relations Department at the University Presidency.
The meeting included a review of the outcomes of the previous session and explored ways to strengthen collaboration among member universities. Discussions also focused on the activities of subcommittees and specialized platforms, particularly in the fields of scientific research, sustainability, international partnerships, and student affairs. Special attention was given to the newly launched NextGen Students Platform, in which a representative from Al-Mustaqbal University was selected as a member of its administrative team, comprising nine members representing a select group of the Union’s more than 150 member universities.
In his remarks during the meeting, Dr. Al-Zuhairi conveyed the greetings of the University President to the attendees and highlighted that Al-Mustaqbal University will actively participate in the Sustainable Development Congress 2025, to be held in Istanbul in mid-June. He also noted the continued engagement of Al-Mustaqbal University students nominated under the NextGen Platform, who are exchanging successful experiences with their peers from other global member universities.
The President of the Union praised the outstanding role of Al-Mustaqbal University in engaging with EURAS initiatives and decisions, commending its active participation and valuable contributions.
In the same context, the President of the Union welcomed Al-Mustaqbal University's proposal to host the EURIE Academy 2025, which is scheduled to take place at the beginning of the next academic year.
He also noted that the coming period will witness the involvement of member universities in several major international projects funded by the European Union and the World Bank, focusing on issues of sustainable development and regional and global challenges, particularly those relevant to the Eastern Mediterranean region.
