In light of the directives of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, aimed at supporting Iraqi universities in fulfilling the requirements for national institutional accreditation and transitioning from conditional to full accreditation, and in a qualitative scientific step that reflects its deep commitment to the approach of quality and academic accreditation, Future University hosted a national training workshop entitled:
(Addressing the Case of Conditional Institutional Accreditation), which was organized by the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority / Department of Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation - Quality Assurance Division, in coordination with the Institutional Accreditation Council.
The workshop was attended by the President of Future University, Professor Hassan Shaker Magdi, who, in a statement to the media, indicated the university's commitment to a solid national vision that makes quality and institutional accreditation a strategic path for comprehensive institutional development. The workshop opened with a speech delivered by Professor Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision at Future University. He welcomed the attendees and emphasized the university presidency's keen interest in this vital issue. He noted that Future University has made institutional accreditation one of its primary priorities, recognizing its importance in enhancing university performance and strengthening community confidence in academic outcomes.
Dr. Al-Zuhairi also emphasized the importance of the workshop as a platform for collaborative scientific dialogue, aiming to present a practical roadmap for Iraqi universities in the post-conditional accreditation phase. This will help bridge gaps, address the concerns raised by the ministerial team, and move toward full and sustainable institutional accreditation. The workshop, presented by Professor Dr. Khalil Ibrahim, representative of the Institutional Accreditation Council, was attended by a number of college deans, a select group of quality department directors, and staff from institutional accreditation units at several Iraqi universities, including: Kufa, Al-Mustansiriya, Anbar, Karbala, Al-Muthanna, Al-Madinah, Mosul, Babylon, Northern Technical University, Central Technical University, Al-Ameed, Al-Kafeel, Al-Farahidi, and Al-Mustaqbal University.
During the workshop sessions, participants discussed mechanisms for bridging gaps, strengthening systems for continuous institutional improvement, and activating academic governance as a key approach to achieving full accreditation.
The workshop included in-depth discussions and scholarly interventions that addressed the challenges facing universities during this transitional phase and ways to build a university environment capable of raising quality standards and academic and administrative governance.
This workshop falls within the strategic direction of the Ministry of Higher Education and Al-Mustaqbal University to promote a culture of institutional accreditation and openness to experiences of sound institutional development, in line with the requirements of international academic rankings and the Sustainable Development Goals in education.
