Title of the research:
Human Identification Through Iris Recognition Based on Genetic Algorithm and Machine Learning

Abstract:
The study presents the development of an effective method for personal identification through iris analysis, relying on a genetic algorithm combined with machine learning techniques. The work focuses on extracting precise features that describe the shape and textural patterns of the iris. Three feature extraction techniques were applied, including Gabor filters and Local Binary Patterns (LBP), aiming to obtain a distinctive representation of the iris.
A genetic algorithm was then used to select the optimal features in terms of discriminative ability and dimensionality reduction, while assigning appropriate weights to each feature. For classification, the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm was employed to provide lightweight classification suitable for devices with limited resources. The results achieved on the IITD and CASIA Interval datasets recorded accuracies of 99.55% and 93.50%, respectively, outperforming many state-of-the-art methods in the field.
