Under the patronage of the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Law, Professor Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini, the College of Law held the Fourth Annual Legal Forum on Human Rights on Saturday, 14 December 2024. This event coincided with the seventy-sixth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights issued in 1948.
The forum hosted Legal Dean Adel Al-Anaawi, Director of Media for the Babylon Police Command, and Legal Expert Mr. Ahmed Al-Attar, Director of the Human Rights Commission Office in Babylon Province. The forum addressed important themes related to human rights and the optimal standards for their application.
A number of faculty members and a select group of college students attended the forum. They showed great interaction with the discussion themes and the importance of the topics presented.
This forum is held within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, as it promotes the values of human rights and the rule of law. It also contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals through cooperation between various concerned parties to raise awareness and disseminate human rights standards at both the local and international levels.
