On Monday morning, the Department of Medical Laboratory Techniques at the College of Health and Medical Technologies – Al-Mustaqbal University continued its scientific lectures. The sessions were distinguished by their emphasis on integrating academic knowledge with modern sustainability concepts, particularly the theme of Sustainable Consumption and Production.
The lectures covered practical topics in the field of medical laboratory analysis and laboratory waste management, with a special focus on the importance of recycling and reducing the use of environmentally harmful chemicals. This approach seeks to achieve a balance between the quality of education and the preservation of natural resources.
In addition, faculty members discussed with students innovative methods for rationalizing the consumption of laboratory materials and replacing single-use tools with more sustainable alternatives, while highlighting the role of students in spreading this culture both within the university environment and beyond.
The faculty stressed that linking the lectures to this relatively unconventional theme in the medical field reflects the college’s vision of aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals from multiple perspectives, while enhancing students’ awareness of the importance of ensuring that medical laboratories are safe and environmentally friendly spaces.
