The College of Nursing at Al-Mustaqbal University held a student hackathon today under the title: “Sustainable Nursing”, as part of the preparations for the Future Ambassadors Sustainability Camp, in collaboration with the Babel Governorate.
The hackathon included a simulation exercise and a competition among students, during which they presented innovative topics linking nursing with sustainability concepts, focusing on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 4: Quality Education. The event also highlighted the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in advancing the nursing profession and how it can be utilized to improve healthcare services and enhance the quality of education.
The activity was held under the direct supervision of Prof. Dr. Saadia Hadi Ahmadi, Dean of the College of Nursing, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Roaa Majid Mohammed, Associate Dean, with the attendance of Prof. Dr. Muthaffar Al-Zuhairi, Head of Scientific and Academic Supervision, and Mr. Khalid Al-Salhi, Director of the Sustainability Development Unit.
A total of 12 students from different academic stages in the college participated, presenting innovative projects and ideas that linked nursing with AI and explored how it can be leveraged for patient care. The projects were reviewed and discussed by specialized faculty members from the nursing department.
At the conclusion of the event, three winners were selected and honored with shields and monetary prizes, in recognition of their creativity and contributions to integrating nursing with sustainable development.
