Digital Transformation and Automation: Al-Mustaqbal University Hosts Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Conference Date: 22/06/2025 | Viewers: 750

Al-Mustaqbal University hosted the national conference on the Digital Transformation and Automation Project at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its formations. The conference was held under the generous patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and saw the broad participation of presidents of public and private universities, assistants, deans, academics, and students.
The Minister was represented at the conference by Professor Dr. Haider Abdul Dhahd, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Scientific Research Affairs, who delivered the opening speech in which he emphasized that digital transformation has become a national and strategic necessity to keep pace with global developments in the fields of education, administration, and technology. He pointed out that this promising project will contribute to improving institutional, administrative, academic, and student performance, simplify procedures, save time and effort, and enhance transparency and the quality of services.
The Undersecretary also emphasized that universities play a crucial role in the success of this important national project, as knowledge-producing institutions and drivers of development, capable of transforming technology into effective tools for managing resources and achieving excellence. In a speech on behalf of Future University, Professor Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision at the University, welcomed all attendees, conveying the greetings of the University President, Professor Hassan Shaker Majdi, and emphasizing the University's pride in hosting this distinguished conference, which highlights one of the most important aspects of higher education development in Iraq.
Dr. Al-Zuhairi explained that digital transformation is not merely a technical process; rather, it represents a qualitative shift in the university's work philosophy, aiming to build a smart system capable of adapting to global changes, enhancing performance efficiency, and achieving effective communication with students, researchers, and faculty members. He also noted that digital transformation is one of the fundamental approaches to achieving good governance, improving the quality of education, and achieving internationalization.
He added that Future University believes in the importance of this transformation and has begun implementing digital projects in various administrative, academic, and service fields for years. It seeks to develop its digital infrastructure and expand its partnerships in this context to keep pace with the requirements of the next phase. The conference included a detailed presentation by Dr. Amir Thuwaini, Director of the Ministry's Information Technology Department, who reviewed the components of the digital project, its implementation phases, and the key challenges and opportunities associated with it.
The conference also witnessed the distribution of unified electronic university cards to a number of students at Al-Mustaqbal University, one of the outcomes of the National Digital Transformation Project. The Undersecretary of the Ministry conducted a live pilot, including card recharging and electronic purchase and payment transactions, amidst the attendees' interaction and praise for this practical initiative.
At the conclusion of the conference, attendees expressed their thanks to Al-Mustaqbal University for the excellent hospitality and organization, emphasizing that the conference represents an important step in the development of Iraqi higher education and the realization of smart universities. They called for continued efforts to expand the scope of digital transformation to include all aspects of university work in Iraq.
