As part of its institutional vision and academic mission aimed at serving the community and promoting sustainable development, Al-Mustaqbal University, under the generous patronage of Professor Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of the University, organized a specialized training course to build the capacity of Babil Governorate Diwan employees (second batch) in the field of sustainable development.
This course was organized by the University's Sustainable Development Division, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), and with the aim of empowering local government cadres and developing their skills in sustainable planning and effective development policymaking.
The course included several topics, including an introduction to the concepts, dimensions, goals, and objectives of sustainable development. It also included training on building an integrated matrix linking the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development, enhancing the ability to formulate a comprehensive development plan for Babil Governorate. It also reviewed mechanisms for identifying development priorities and directing investments fairly across geographies and sectors to bridge development gaps and achieve a tangible impact on community well-being. Engineer Khaled Kazim Al-Salhi, Director of the Sustainable Development Division at the University, lectured at the course. He noted that this course is part of a series of programs and initiatives by the University of the Future aimed at empowering the government sector with sustainable development tools and strategies, building the scientific and professional capacities of government employees, and consolidating the university's role as a leading academic, research, and community center that contributes to comprehensive local and national development.
Al-Salhi emphasized that the University provided all the technical and logistical requirements for the success of this specialized course, recognizing the importance of institutional integration in promoting sustainable development paths and achieving its goals on the ground.
