As part of the ongoing efforts to safeguard intangible cultural heritage at risk of disappearing, **Dr. Angham Salim Mohammed** has completed a field project aimed at documenting traditional tattoo patterns in one of the regions of **Babylon Province**. This project was carried out in collaboration with the **Cultural Protection Fund (CPF)** and in partnership with **TARII** (The Academic Research Institute in Iraq), highlighting an important aspect of Iraq’s rich popular heritage.

The project focused on collecting and documenting the symbols, meanings, and stories associated with the art of traditional tattooing, particularly among women. In the past, this art form served as a means of aesthetic and social expression, carrying deep cultural significance and reflecting local identity. This scientific and cultural endeavor represents a serious attempt to preserve this tradition from fading away amid the rapid social and cultural transformations in society.

The project marks a significant step toward integrating intangible heritage into academic research and documentation efforts. It also contributes to raising community awareness about the importance of preserving local cultural identity and passing it on to future generations.
