Toxic chemicals present in the environment are among the greatest challenges threatening public health worldwide, especially amid industrial and agricultural expansion. This challenge falls within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 3, which seeks to ensure healthy lives and well-being for all.

Human communities are exposed to harmful chemicals such as heavy metals (like mercury and lead), pesticides, and volatile organic compounds that can accumulate in the body and cause chronic diseases such as cancer, neurological disorders, and liver and kidney diseases. These risks are particularly high in areas with weak environmental regulations.

From a chemical perspective, analytical studies play a crucial role in the early detection of these substances in air, water, and soil. Chemical research also aids in developing effective methods for removing or neutralizing these toxins, such as adsorption techniques, photodegradation, and bioremediation.

Sustainability in handling chemicals is central to reducing negative impacts on the environment and health. Adopting green technologies in industry, using natural pesticides, and developing less toxic chemicals are key ways to reduce pollution and protect human health.

Moreover, societies need to raise awareness and implement strict regulations to limit excessive exposure to toxic substances, alongside supporting scientific research and international cooperation to share sustainable solutions.

Ultimately, addressing the risks posed by toxic chemicals requires integrated scientific, environmental, and social efforts to achieve SDG 3 and ensure better health for future generations.
