As part of the community service activities carried out by the College of Science at Al-Mustaqbal University, third-year students from the Department of Intelligent Medical Systems participated in a distinguished event held on campus in celebration of the World Science Day for Peace and Development.

The students presented an applied scientific project titled "Smart Greenhouses – Temperature and Humidity Sensor", which embodies the use of modern technology in the agricultural sector. The project involves developing an intelligent system capable of accurately measuring temperature and humidity inside greenhouses, which contributes to improving crop productivity while maintaining internal environmental balance.

This initiative aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices using smart sensing technologies, in response to the environmental and climatic challenges facing agriculture in Iraq. The project received wide acclaim from attendees for its practical scientific vision and its potential to deliver real value to society by integrating technology with sustainable development goals.

This participation reflects the college’s ongoing efforts to connect academic learning with community needs and to activate the role of students in addressing development challenges through practical and research-based projects that are applicable in real-world contexts.

The project aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), most notably:
Goal 2 (Zero Hunger) – by improving agricultural production methods and ensuring food security;
Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) – by developing smart technological solutions that support innovation in agriculture;
and Goal 13 (Climate Action) – by contributing to the development of adaptive smart agricultural systems in response to environmental and climate changes.

These types of initiatives reflect the high level of awareness and responsibility among Al-Mustaqbal University students, and highlight the ability of Iraqi youth to harness scientific knowledge in service of sustainable development and community well-being.
