Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being—the College of Health and Medical Technologies at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a special humanitarian visit to the State Home for Al-Zohour Orphans in Babylon Province. The initiative coincided with the commemoration of Ashura, a day symbolizing justice, sacrifice, and compassion embodied in the legacy of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) and his noble family.
This visit aimed to raise social awareness, promote volunteerism, and foster a culture of solidarity, reflecting the spirit of Goal 3 of the SDGs, which emphasizes the importance of ensuring physical and emotional well-being for all, especially vulnerable groups such as children.
Faculty members and students took part in the visit, offering symbolic gifts and meals to the children and residents of the care home in an atmosphere of kindness and human empathy. The program also included educational and awareness activities, meaningful chants, and inspirational speeches that highlighted the spiritual and social values of Ashura and their role in cultivating a strong sense of responsibility and compassion among students.
The delegation also listened to the needs and concerns of the care home’s management and staff, affirming the university’s ongoing commitment to supporting such communities, in line with the principle of community partnership and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
The Dean of the College emphasized that this visit is part of a broader series of annual initiatives conducted by the university to strengthen its social responsibility and expand the impact of higher education to encompass humanitarian and societal dimensions. The university reaffirms that education is not confined to the classroom—it plays a vital role in building a compassionate, cohesive society.
