Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering and Engineering Technologies, Asst. Prof. Dr. Azher Mohsen Abed, the college launched a humanitarian campaign entitled “Engineering Hope for a Future Pulsing with Sustainability,” targeting a needy family in the village of Al-Jamjuma, Babil Governorate.
The initiative received wide praise from the villagers, who expressed their gratitude for this generous gesture, considering it a model of how Al-Mustaqbal University combines its academic mission with its national and humanitarian role.
This campaign comes as part of the university’s strategic orientation to enhance the principle of sustainability and social responsibility, affirming that its mission extends beyond education and scientific research to include serving the community and supporting the most vulnerable groups.
The campaign included providing the family with pieces of household furniture, essential needs, and a comprehensive food basket containing various daily necessities, ensuring a decent life and contributing to the family’s stability.
The initiative was organized and implemented with the participation of the Department of Power Mechanics Engineering Technologies and the Energy Research Center, in addition to a distinguished group of students from the department, who took part in preparing, organizing, and distributing the aid—demonstrating the spirit of collaboration between faculty members and students in serving society.
This initiative reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to achieving Goal 1 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (No Poverty) by supporting vulnerable groups and working towards a more just and compassionate society.
