Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Muzafar Sadiq Al-Zuheiri, the university organized a workshop on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, titled:
“Building a Security-First Culture: A Social Engineering Awareness Workshop”,
held in the main hall with the participation of deans, heads of departments, and a large group of students.
The workshop opened with a speech delivered by Eng. Khalid Kazem Al-Salhi, Director of the Sustainable Development Division, who emphasized that this event is part of the university’s efforts to promote cybersecurity awareness and responsible digital behavior among its staff and students.
The session was presented by international expert Dr. Ahmed Khalil Ibrahim, Professor at Humber Polytechnic College in Canada and Vice President of the Cybersecurity Department at C-SevenFifty Consulting and Training. He discussed social engineering techniques used by attackers to exploit human vulnerability in security systems, supported by interactive exercises and real case studies to enhance participants’ awareness.
The workshop also highlighted the importance of establishing a strong institutional security culture within academic environments, empowering faculty members and students to act as the first line of defense against cyberattacks.
At the end of the event, Al-Mustaqbal University presented a shield of appreciation to Dr. Ahmed Khalil for his valuable contribution to promoting cybersecurity awareness, in the presence of representatives from various universities and official institutions.
