Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, participated in the 8th regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the Eurasian Universities Union (EURAS), held virtually on Monday, July 11, 2025. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Mustafa Aydın, President of Istanbul Aydın University and Chairman of the EURAS Board, with the participation of presidents and representatives of member universities via video conferencing.

This participation comes as a continuation of the selection of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University as a member of the Board of Directors during the annual conference held in October 2024 in Istanbul, Turkey.

The meeting began with a welcoming address from the Chairman of EURAS, who invited university representatives to share their feedback on previous meetings before moving on to discuss topics related to academic cooperation among member universities, specialized research platforms, sustainability, international partnerships, and student exchange. The resolutions of the previous meeting held last June were also reviewed.

The EURAS Chairman praised the tangible progress made by Al-Mustaqbal University in the THE Impact Rankings within the fields of the Sustainable Development Goals, considering this achievement worthy of being highlighted in the various activities of the Union.

For his part, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi expressed his appreciation to the EURAS leadership, affirming the university’s keenness to strengthen its active role in the Union’s activities, particularly through hosting the EURAS Academy Forum, scheduled to be held on the university campus in November. The EURAS Chairman stressed the importance of this event as a platform to showcase university success stories, discuss global challenges, and explore the role of higher education in addressing them.

The meeting also featured a presentation by the President of the Next Gen Student platform on the activities and projects of its members, including the project of student Qasim Jassim from the Department of Computer Engineering Techniques at Al-Mustaqbal University, who is a member of the platform’s management team. The platform brings together international students and contributes to the exchange of cultures, ideas, and success stories among member universities.

The meeting was also attended by Professor Dr. Muzafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, and Dr. Sameer Badrawi, Director of International Relations at the university presidency.
