AL_Mustaqbal University President, Professor Hassan Shaker Majdi, announced that the university has obtained a copyright protection certificate from the National Center for Copyright and Related Rights, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, for the "AL_Mustaqbal University Intellectual Property Policy" document. This makes the university the first academic institution in Iraq to launch and establish an institutional policy document for intellectual property protection.
Dr. Majdi explained that this achievement represents a historic milestone in the university's journey towards leadership and excellence. The document was first launched during the AL_Mustaqbal Sustainability Week Festival held last April, becoming a leading institutional reference that enhances the environment of creativity and innovation in Iraq.
He pointed out that intellectual property protection goes beyond being a mere legal procedure; it represents a fundamental pillar for building a knowledge-based economy based on ideas and innovation. He emphasized that this protection guarantees innovators, researchers, and pioneers exclusive rights that enable them to safely develop their businesses and innovations. It also provides investment and commercial opportunities that give institutions a competitive advantage and help them attract partners and investors. Furthermore, it enables them to generate new sources of income through licensing or rights transfer. He also emphasized that this step contributes to creating a safe environment for research and development and supports entrepreneurs in obtaining the necessary funding for their projects, strengthening Iraq's position on the path to a knowledge-based economy based on innovation.
The university president concluded by affirming that AL_Mustaqbal University will continue its pioneering role in empowering innovators and researchers and instilling a culture of intellectual property as a cornerstone in building a modern Iraq based on knowledge and creativity.
