and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Rozan Salman,
The Department of English at the College of Education organized two workshops presented by Asst. Lecturer Saja Zuhair Hameed, with the attendance of a number of faculty members and students.
The first workshop, entitled “Environmental Pollution and Ways to Reduce Its Effects,” addressed the major forms of pollution in air, water, and soil, highlighting their direct impact on human health and environmental sustainability. It also presented strategies to mitigate pollution through raising environmental awareness, encouraging sustainable practices such as recycling, and promoting the use of clean energy.
The second workshop, entitled “Women and Media: Between Empowerment and Commodification,” discussed the role of women in media, emphasizing their potential to contribute to social change when empowered. It also examined the challenges women face due to marginalization and commodification, stressing the importance of promoting positive representation of women in media in line with societal values and in support of their developmental role.
Both workshops concluded with engaging discussions and valuable contributions from the participants, enriching the sessions with insights that reflect the academic community’s awareness of the importance of protecting the environment and empowering women in all areas of life.
