Optics Techniques Department of Al-Mustaqbal University was established as per Ministerial Order No. T.A.Q./13741, dated on 21st of November 2021. The Department aims to qualify a Graduate capable of performing an effective role in the Medical Health Field, and thus meeting the needs of society as well as Labor Market Requirements, being quite skillful to work on Medical & Optical Devices while examining Eyesight, determining Degree of Vision, evaluating Strabismus, and prescribing Medical Glasses, Contact Lenses, and other recommended substitutes. Besides, Optics Department Graduate can be described as an Optometrist, i.e. an Optical Technician, who could evaluate Patients' Eyes so as to identify Vision Defects, Diseases, and Injuries, in addition to maintaining Medical Files, evaluating Eye Defects, and recording Inspection Plans. Study Duration at Optics Department is Four Years and the Language of Study is English.

Optics Department Mission focuses on qualifying highly trained cadres in the field of Optics Specialization, diagnosing Eye Diseases, manufacturing Eyeglasses and Contact Lenses, as the graduate is characterized with high level of knowledge and creativity in dealing with Medical devices used in examining and diagnosing Eyesight Problems, being compatible with the International Medical Standards, ensuring Quality and Academic Accreditation at the Analysis of Results according to Biometric Methods and Corresponding Clinical Programs of other Optics Departments.
Optics Techniques Department aims to qualify Specialized Cadres in the Field of Optics Techniques who have the skill and ability to examining Eyesight, its degree, correcting Strabismus, suggest Type of Lenses, working at Lens Installation Workshops for Medical Glasses, using Medical Computer for Eyesight Examination and Correction, prescribing Medical Glasses, Contact Lenses, and other recommended substitutes, in addition to keeping on modernizing and developing Curricula and study Plans of all Scientific and Practical Fields, while securing Teaching Staff at Universities and Institutes.
Tasks and duties assigned to Optics Department Graduates can be listed as follows:
1. Eyesight Examination and determination of its degree
2. Eyesight and Strabismus Correction
3. Doing the job of installing lenses of Medical Glasses
4. Using the Computer to perform Eyesight Examinations and Correction
5. Prescribing Medical Glasses, Contact Lenses, Repairing Glasses, and Maintaining Optical Medical Devices.
However, a graduate of Optics Techniques Department of Optical can work in the following fields:
1. Health Institutions of the Ministry of Health
2. Clinics of Eyesight Examination & Correction
3. Manufacturing Medical Glasses.
4. Working on various Advanced Medical and Optical Devices.
Finally, Graduates of Optics Techniques Department are qualified to obtain the Identity of Health Professions Syndicate.
