Assistant Professor Dr. Reda Abdel-Ati Al-Fishawi, Director of the Center for Continuing Education, participated in the First Babylon International Conference on Confronting Intellectual Extremism and Terrorism, held in Babylon Governorate with broad participation from academics, researchers, and specialists from various Iraqi and Arab universities. Dr. Al-Fishawi's participation came through the presentation of a scientific paper entitled: "The Crisis of Legal Protection of Nature: A Study of the Philosophical Foundations of Environmental Law." The paper addressed the intellectual and philosophical roots that frame environmental legislation, highlighting the challenges facing the effectiveness of the law in protecting the environment within contemporary social and political contexts. Dr. Reda Abdel-Ati Al-Fishawi emphasized during his intervention that confronting intellectual extremism is inseparable from protecting the environment and human thought, noting that the common ground between environmental justice and enlightened thought represents one possible path toward building more aware and peaceful societies. This participation comes as part of the Center for Continuing Education's commitment to strengthening its academic and societal role, and its keenness to open up to vital issues that contribute to human development and the protection of natural and intellectual resources from all forms of threat.
