As part of the university’s strategic plan to obtain the title of the First Sustainable University in Iraq, Prof. Dr. Sulwan Ubaid Waheed, Director of the Al-Mustaqbal Center for Energy Research, participated in the first central committee meeting held on July 7, 2025, alongside members from various academic and technical departments involved in sustainability. 🌿 The meeting focused on reviewing the essential requirements and criteria to ensure that the university’s infrastructure and operations align with global sustainability standards, including: ▪️ Energy efficiency and optimal resource utilization ▪️ Waste management and recycling strategies ▪️ Integration of renewable energy sources ▪️ Promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices across campus 📍 Attendees discussed implementation plans, timelines, and site readiness for the upcoming evaluation visit by the Ministries of Higher Education and Environment, and defined the responsibilities of each unit and center. 🗣️ Prof. Dr. Sulwan reaffirmed the center’s full readiness to support the transition to sustainability, emphasizing the center’s pioneering role in promoting renewable energy applications and environmental performance within the university. 🌱 This participation reflects the center’s deep commitment to enhancing the university’s reputation at both national and international levels, and its active engagement in building a sustainable academic environment in line with global standards.
