Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the first day of Global Entrepreneurship Week kicked off on the university campus on Sunday, February 8, 2026. The event is organized by the Career Development and Follow-up Division at the University Presidency and will run from February 8 to 12, 2026, with wide participation from academic staff and students. The activities began with a speech delivered on behalf of the President by Professor Dr. Muthaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, emphasizing the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation, and supporting students and graduates in transforming their creative ideas into productive projects that contribute to strengthening the knowledge-based economy and meeting labor market needs The first-day program included the screening of a documentary titled “A Global Vision… with an Iraqi Spirit”, which highlighted the journey and academic and scientific achievements of the university. This was followed by honoring a group of young entrepreneurial graduates in recognition of their outstanding success in business management and entrepreneurial projects, as well as their contributions to economic and social development. The day also saw the opening of the Student Entrepreneurial Projects Exhibition, which showcased high levels of creativity and innovation, highlighting students’ ability to link theoretical knowledge with practical applications and provide innovative solutions based on solid scientific foundations The first-day events included a panel discussion on Environmental Entrepreneurship and the Green Economy, featuring Eng. Khalid Kazem Al-Salhi, Head of the Sustainable Development Division at the University Presidency; Dr. Wafaa Salah Al-Din Hamandi, Organic Agriculture Expert and Director of Shala Research Center; Dr. Muhammad Abdul Hussein, Director of Saleh & Tin Organic Agriculture Company; and Eng. Maki Hadi Imran, Director of Babylon Environment. The discussion focused on the prospects of environmentally friendly entrepreneurial projects, their role in achieving sustainable development, and raising environmental awareness The day concluded with a specialized training workshop led by Dr. Musaddaq Maher Abdul Zahra, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Incubator at the university, titled “From Education to Innovation: The Role of Educational Robots in Building Entrepreneurship.” The workshop explored how educational robots and artificial intelligence can be utilized to create learning environments that foster innovation and entrepreneurship Al-Mustaqbal University’s participation in Global Entrepreneurship Week reaffirms its commitment to building a university ecosystem that supports innovation and entrepreneurship, promotes entrepreneurial initiatives and startups, and ensures alignment between higher education outputs and labor market needs, in line with national priorities and the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to support the knowledge economy and sustainable development
