In celebration of World Water Day 2026, and under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, Al-Mustaqbal University organized a specialized online workshop during March 2026, with the active participation of the Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Division. This initiative aligns with global efforts to achieve water sustainability and promote gender equality in the management of natural resources The workshop was held an online platform affiliated with the university, allowing broad participation from academics, researchers, and students. It aimed to highlight the importance of empowering women as a key element in water resource management, in addition to addressing major challenges related to water scarcity and climate change The workshop commenced with a speech by the University President, who emphasized the importance of investing in international observances to promote environmental awareness and strengthen the role of academic institutions in fostering a culture of rational water use. He also stressed the need to direct scientific research and graduation projects toward environmental sustainability issues The event witnessed notable participation from the Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Division, which played an active role in organizing the workshop and strengthening its practical dimensions by linking its outcomes to labor market requirements, thereby contributing to preparing qualified cadres capable of addressing environmental and water-related challenges In turn, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, affirmed that water is a fundamental pillar for achieving food and social security. He pointed to the increasing global challenges caused by climate change and population growth, which exert significant pressure on water resources, highlighting the need to intensify research efforts and adopt sustainable scientific solutions The workshop included a series of specialized scientific presentations delivered by a group of professors and researchers. These presentations covered various topics, including raising community awareness about water conservation, the role of women in water resource management, and showcasing successful local and international initiatives that contribute to achieving water sustainability Additionally, the workshop reviewed several initiatives adopted by Al-Mustaqbal University in the field of water conservation, including the use of smart sensors in water systems, the implementation of modern irrigation technologies, and wastewater recycling projects within the university campus—reflecting the university’s practical commitment to environmental sustainability This event is part of a series of scientific activities organized by Al-Mustaqbal University to reinforce its leading role in supporting sustainability issues, enhancing academic and community awareness, and highlighting the vital role of the Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Division in supporting sustainable development and linking knowledge with practical application
