As part of the 4th International Sustainability Week activities, and within the fourth day’s program, the AlMustaqbal Energy Research Centre at AlMstaqbal University organized a scientific workshop entitled: “From Waste to Energy: The Future of Lithium Battery Recycling” The workshop was attended by a number of students, researchers, and individuals interested in the fields of energy and sustainability. It aimed to highlight the importance of recycling lithium batteries and its role in reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainability, in addition to reviewing the latest technologies used in recycling processes and the challenges facing this vital sector. The workshop also covered several topics, including an introduction to lithium batteries and their widespread applications, the environmental risks associated with improper disposal, as well as the economic benefits of recycling and its role in supporting a sustainable energy economy. The session was delivered by: • Dr. Salwan Ubaid Waheed • Dr. Mohammed Maytham Ubaid The workshop witnessed strong engagement from attendees through questions and discussions that enriched the topic and emphasized the importance of adopting sustainable solutions in managing energy waste. This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities organized by the Centre to promote environmental awareness and strengthen the concepts of sustainability and clean energy.
