The College of Technical Engineering at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a specialized scientific workshop for third-year students of the Power Mechanics Department, entitled “Types of Solar Thermal Collectors and Their Various Technologies.” The workshop was held as part of the university’s efforts to enhance practical knowledge and keep students updated with modern technologies in the field of renewable energy. The workshop was delivered by Ms. Israa Mohammed Hassan, who presented a comprehensive overview of solar thermal energy and highlighted its growing importance, particularly in light of the global trend toward reducing dependence on conventional energy sources and minimizing environmental pollution. During the workshop, the lecturer discussed the main types of solar thermal collectors, explaining the fundamental differences in design, operating principles, and efficiency. The presentation covered flat-plate collectors, evacuated tube collectors, and concentrating solar collectors, along with their applications in domestic, industrial, and power generation systems. In addition, the workshop addressed modern technologies used to enhance the performance of solar thermal collectors, including advancements in absorber materials, thermal insulation techniques, solar tracking systems, and the integration of solar thermal systems with conventional mechanical systems to improve overall efficiency and reduce thermal losses. The workshop witnessed active participation from students through questions and scientific discussions that focused on practical and applied aspects of these technologies, as well as their potential use in graduation projects and future professional careers. At the conclusion of the workshop, Ms. Israa Mohammed Hassan emphasized the importance of exposing engineering students to renewable energy technologies due to their vital role in the future of mechanical engineering and sustainable development. She also praised Al-Mustaqbal University for organizing such valuable scientific activities. This workshop is part of a series of scientific events organized by Al-Mustaqbal University, aiming to develop students’ scientific and practical skills and keep pace with the latest developments in engineering and energy fields.
