Al-Mustaqbal University Council held its eleventh session for the academic year 2024–2025, chaired by Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of the University, with the presence of vice presidents, deans, and the participation of Prof. Dr. Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuheiri, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision.
The session opened with a speech by Dr. Majdi, in which he emphasized the importance of teamwork and continuous coordination across all university sectors. He praised the accomplishments achieved across key areas, particularly the advancement in both international and national university rankings, the growing momentum of scientific research, the organization of prestigious academic events, and the expansion of global partnerships. He also highlighted the university’s progress in sustainability and infrastructure development, aligning with the standards of leading global institutions.
Dr. Majdi commended the strong performance of several academic departments in the ministerial assessment exams and called for the timely completion of graduate documentation and exam records. He stressed the need for early preparations for the upcoming academic year (2025–2026), including the formation of specialized committees in each college to ensure safety measures and academic readiness.
In the context of academic planning, the University President instructed council members to submit their scientific action plans for the coming year. These plans should include research activities, innovative academic initiatives, workshops, and symposia, along with preparations for scientific conferences approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
During the session, Prof. Dr. Mudhafar Al-Zuheiri presented a comprehensive report on the current state of scientific research at the university. He highlighted key publishing indicators in Scopus and Clarivate databases, including the volume of research published in Q1 and Q2 journals. The report also covered the university’s strategies in sustainability, graduate employability programs, and the strengthening of academic collaborations with prestigious international institutions. Updates on the university’s standing in global and national rankings were also discussed, followed by guidance from the University President.
The session concluded with a review of the agenda items, open discussion of comments and suggestions presented by the council members, and the approval of several recommendations and decisions aimed at advancing the university’s strategic objectives.
