In alignment with the third Sustainable Development Goal — Good Health and Well-being — and based on the directives of the respected President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, which emphasize the adoption of eco-friendly materials and equipment in the work environment, the Optics Technology Department is proud to announce a groundbreaking achievement: the manufacturing of wooden medical frames using 3D printing technology for the first time in the field of optics.
This innovation was accomplished through self-reliant efforts and the use of locally sourced materials known for being lightweight, skin-friendly, and cost-effective. This advancement represents a creative leap in the use of wooden medical frames for the treatment of certain cases of strabismus, as the permitted "sliding" feature within the frame’s design allows for adjustment of visual alignment without affecting the frame’s shape or functionality.
The Optics Technology Department takes pride in the fact that these frames are specifically designed to be skin-friendly and medically safe, opening new horizons for the application of modern technology in both medical and optical fields.
