Under the theme “Art Draws the Courage of the Homeland,” the College of Fine Arts at Al-Mustaqbal University has launched a major art festival, the largest of its kind at the University, scheduled from January 5 to 7, 2026, coinciding with the 105th anniversary of the founding of the heroic Iraqi Army, and as part of the national celebrations taking place across Babil Governorate and other Iraqi provinces.
Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir, a large fine art exhibition was inaugurated at Al-Mustaqbal Gardens, portraying the journey of heroism and sacrifice of the Iraqi soldier and highlighting the national and humanitarian dimensions of the Iraqi military institution.
The exhibition features more than 100 artworks by military and civilian artists, including oil paintings, sculptures, and photographic works documenting liberation battles and humanitarian missions, offering a powerful visual narrative of Iraq’s proud military history.
The festival spaces are organized into multiple artistic sections, including fine art paintings emphasizing unity between the people and the army, a dedicated Arabic calligraphy and manuscripts corner expressing pride in Iraqi sovereignty and the heroism of martyrs, as well as a historical pavilion displaying rare artifacts and photographs exhibited for the first time, illustrating the evolution of Iraqi military branches and uniforms across different eras.
The festival is expected to be attended by senior military commanders, representatives of the Ministry of Culture, along with prominent artists and intellectuals. Brigadier Professor Dr. Mazen, spokesperson for the College of Fine Arts, stated that “the festival represents a message of loyalty from art to the homeland, embodying the harmony between artistic creativity and military sacrifice in shaping national history.”
The festival program also includes live patriotic musical performances, in addition to honoring the families of martyrs and participating artists in recognition of their sacrifices and creative contributions.
