An awareness campaign titled “The Importance of Early Detection of Breast Cancer,” supervised by Ms. Iman Yasser Hussein and Eng. Zahraa Mohammed Kadhim. Within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being), the campaign highlights that breast cancer is one of the most widespread health challenges, yet awareness of prevention methods is the cornerstone of reducing its risks. The physical and psychological damage resulting from late diagnosis poses a significant threat to public health, as neglecting regular checkups leads to the spread of cancer cells to surrounding tissues and vital organs, complicating treatment and reducing the chances of a full recovery. Campaign Themes and the Impact of the Disease: • Organic Impact: The disease causes structural and functional changes in the body and may require surgical interventions and stressful chemotherapy treatments that affect the immune system and overall bodily functions. • Biomedical Engineering Aspect: The crucial role of biomedical engineers in developing mammogram and ultrasound technologies is highlighted to ensure accurate and rapid diagnosis. • Prevention and Response: Proper nutrition, avoiding unhealthy habits, and conducting regular self-examinations are the first line of defense. We must not forget that the danger of neglect and ignoring initial symptoms represents the real and looming threat, while awareness remains the driving force for saving lives.
