Fourth-year students in the Biomedical Engineering Department launched an awareness campaign titled "The Dangers of Domestic Violence and Its Long-Term Effects," under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Iman Yasser Hussein and Engineer Zahraa Mohammed Kadhim. Within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being), the physical and psychological damage resulting from domestic violence poses a serious threat to the stability of the social fabric. For example, continuous exposure to violence leads to severe neurological and psychological disorders, including chronic anxiety and depression, which directly affect the efficiency of the nervous system and individuals' cognitive functions. Furthermore, continuous psychological stress has physical repercussions on cardiovascular health, increasing the likelihood of developing chronic hypertension. Campaign Dimensions and Impacts: • Direct Physical Harm: Injuries that may lead to permanent disabilities requiring solutions in medical rehabilitation and prosthetics. • Psychological Deterioration: Violence erodes trust and creates an unsafe environment that hinders children's normal development, leading to a continuous cycle of negative effects that transcends generations. • The overall health aspect: Neglecting the mental and physical health of victims of violence weakens the health and social systems and increases the burden of emergency medical care. We must not forget that the risk of family disintegration and societal collapse remains a constant and real threat, requiring serious efforts to raise awareness, provide protection, and create an environment of compassion and kindness.
