Biotechnology is the use of living organisms or their components to improve products and services, especially in agriculture. Biotechnology has significantly contributed to improving agricultural productivity and crop quality. One important application is developing disease-resistant and pest-resistant crops, reducing the need for chemical pesticides. Biotechnology also helps create plants that tolerate harsh environmental conditions such as drought and salinity. It can improve the nutritional value of crops by increasing vitamin and mineral content. It also enhances plant growth and productivity. Biotechnology is also used to produce biofertilizers, which improve soil fertility and reduce environmental pollution. Additionally, it helps develop climate-resistant crops. Biotechnology plays a vital role in achieving global food security and sustainable agriculture.
