In a new scientific achievement that reflects the growing international presence of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Salwan Obaid Waheed, Director of the Energy Research Center at the university, has been selected as an international judge in the Sustainability Awards organized by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) for the 2026 awards program. This selection comes in recognition of Dr. Salwan Obaid Waheed’s academic and research experience in sustainability within higher education. In this role, he will participate as a volunteer judge in evaluating submissions from universities and higher education institutions worldwide. The judging process involves reviewing and assessing approximately 25 projects and initiatives submitted to the awards program in several areas related to sustainability and institutional innovation. The AASHE Sustainability Awards program is considered one of the leading global initiatives dedicated to recognizing pioneering sustainability efforts within higher education institutions. It aims to highlight best practices and innovative projects that contribute to advancing green campuses and strengthening the role of universities in addressing environmental and developmental challenges. This international participation represents an important addition to Al-Mustaqbal University’s achievements and reflects the distinguished academic reputation of the university and its research centers, particularly the Energy Research Center, which continues to develop studies and projects related to renewable energy and environmental sustainability.
