In a move reflecting its commitment to social and environmental issues, the College of Law at Al-Mustaqbal University launched a specialized workshop titled “Environmental Pollution in Babil Governorate and the Role of Local Laws in Mitigating It” on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the college’s facilities. The workshop was moderated by Dr. Ali Hamza Nimrud, who, in his lecture, reviewed the most serious challenges of environmental pollution in the governorate, revealing its sources and dangerous effects on public health. The workshop focused on the effectiveness of local legislation in addressing pollution, providing a detailed analysis of the legal and procedural gaps that hinder the optimal implementation of environmental laws, and discussed ways to improve them to achieve comprehensive environmental protection. The event featured fruitful scientific discussions that emphasized the importance of raising community awareness and strengthening the role of academic institutions in providing innovative studies and solutions to mitigate environmental problems. The workshop concluded by emphasizing that such scientific activities are at the heart of the Al-Mustaqbal University College of Law’s vision to establish a culture of respect for the law and support sustainable development in Babil Governorate, amid widespread praise from the audience for the university’s pioneering role.
