In recent years, the world has witnessed tremendous advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, which have become an integral part of our daily lives—from smartphones to medical and industrial systems. While AI offers significant benefits in simplifying daily life and improving efficiency, it also poses real risks that warrant attention. The most prominent of these risks is privacy infringement, as these systems rely on collecting massive amounts of personal data, which could lead to its misuse or leakage. AI also contributes to the spread of misinformation through deepfake technologies, which can damage reputations and impact public opinion as well as social and political stability. It also poses a threat to the labor market, as intelligent machines and software can replace humans in routine jobs, thereby increasing unemployment. Ethical risks also arise when AI is used in medical or judicial decisions, as algorithms may contain biases that lead to unfair outcomes. In the military sphere, autonomous weapons capable of making lethal decisions without human intervention could be developed, threatening global security. Nevertheless, artificial intelligence remains a great technological revolution; therefore, establishing legal and ethical safeguards is essential to regulate its use and protect society, while raising awareness of its risks and benefits, encouraging research to assess risks and develop solutions, and ensuring that it serves humanity rather than threatening it, through collaboration between governments, academic institutions, and technology firms to establish comprehensive and secure frameworks that include privacy protection, prevention of discrimination, and regulation of its use in sensitive areas.
