On Thursday, March 26, 2026, the Faculty of Law at Al-Mustaqbal University organized an online workshop via Google Meet titled “Raising Awareness of the Importance of the Environment and Its Conservation,” presented by Weam Fadel Obeid. The workshop addressed the most prominent challenges facing the contemporary environment, foremost among them the increasing depletion of natural resources, the worsening of pollution, and climate change, emphasizing that fostering environmental awareness is no longer an option but a necessity to ensure the sustainability of resources and protect the future of coming generations. She also emphasized the importance of adopting responsible behaviors, such as conserving water and energy, recycling waste, and promoting a culture of sustainable resource use, given their active role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The workshop highlighted the role of educational and legislative institutions in promoting environmental awareness by incorporating environmental protection concepts into school curricula and enacting laws that support eco-friendly practices and curb environmental violations. The lecturer also reviewed successful international models and experiences in the field of waste management and its conversion into energy sources, as well as global initiatives aimed at protecting ecosystems and biodiversity. The session witnessed significant engagement from the audience, with numerous contributions and questions that enriched the discussion. Participants emphasized the importance of continuing such scientific events to promote environmental culture and develop legal awareness related to environmental protection. This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities organized by the College of Law at Al-Mustaqbal University, aiming to support environmental awareness and encourage scientific research in the fields of law, the environment, and sustainable development.
